Emma is a woman in recruitment with whom other women can aspire to emulate. She will share her story, revealing the ups and the downs on her journey to the top as a recruiter in construction. Emma will offer tips and advice to help recruiters follow her path to success. Her authentic approach will provide insight to the traits that have made Emma and her business a success in a competitive and volatile market.

Emma Marriott – MD of Contract Scotland

Emma is committed, hardworking, focussed and successful, yet manages to sustain a great work life balance. She joined Contract Scotland as a Law Graduate and worked with them through a demerger and become a shareholder in 2001. She has developed the business to be the largest independent construction recruiter in Scotland and worked tirelessly to be the expert in her field. In her 18 years with the Contract Scotland Emma has aided countless businesses in achieving their growth plans and influenced the way they recruit.

CSR is at the very core of the Contract Scotland business and their community activity has seen them achieve Business in the Community status as well as winning the Best CSR Initiative Award at the APSCo awards in October. Their Social Enterprise was launched in March to ensure construction graduates can gain the essential experience they need to find a full time permanent job.

Emma is an avid promoter of greater diversity in the recruitment and construction industry and Contract Scotland is 64% female with a staff turnover of less than 5% in the last 5 years.

Emma is Mum to two year old Millie and understands the juggling act and sacrifice that any working parent needs to make when raising a family and developing their career.
